Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my new roof last?

The lifespan of your roof can depend on the types of materials used, proper ventilation and installation, weather conditions and climate, the direction your roof faces, and how often you perform regular roof maintenance.

Typically, you should get pretty close to the manufacturer’s lifespan of your asphalt roofing materials. That means you can expect to get about 20-22 years out of a 3-tab shingle roof, and 25-28 years out of dimensional shingles. When installed correctly, a typical standing seam metal roof will last anywhere from 30 to 50 years, and premium metals such as stainless steel, titanium, zinc and copper can last well over 100 years. A ribbed metal panel roofing system featuring concealed fasteners will have a lifespan ranging from 30 to 50 years, depending on the environment.

Does my roof come with a warranty?

Yes, on top of the standard Manufacturer’s warranty, we provide a 10 Year Leak-Free Warranty to cover our workmanship. Another part of our warranty covers materials if the manufacturer won’t. If you are considering a new roof, make sure you ask any contractor you talk to about their Workmanship Warranty.

How much does a roof replacement cost?

An asphalt shingle roof typically costs $4.75 - $5.50 per square foot. Exposed fastener metal roofing costs $5.75 - $6.50 per square foot. Standing seam (hidden fastener) metal roofing is typically $7.50 - $8.00 per square foot.

Will I need to get permits for building a garage or shop?

Yes, permits are required for most buildings. It depends on the size, type and location. The good news is, if you hire D&J Roofing and Construction for your new project, we can take care of that hassle for you.
